Organising the Community Tourist Destination
CLIENTS — Unione dei Comuni delle Madonie
WHEN — 2022
WHERE — Sicilia

The AIMA 14 project, implemented within the framework of the National Strategy for Inland Areas (SNAI) – Madonie, aimed at promoting the competitive positioning of this inland area of Sicily through innovative product and service interventions, thanks to the funds of the 2014-2020 Sicily ERDF OP 2014-2020.

The project envisaged a series of concrete and targeted actions, including:

  • Thematic television productions: high quality audiovisual content with national broadcasting to tell of the excellence, traditions and landscape of the Madonie, increasing awareness and attractiveness of the area.
  • Community map: creation, printing and distribution of a map representing the territory, its resources and identity, enhancing the Madonie’s cultural and natural heritage.
  • Dedicated website: development of a digital platform with an integrated Booking Engine system for accommodation facilities, offering an innovative tool for tourism promotion and booking management.
  • Social campaign: promotion activities of the territory through targeted strategies on the main social channels to reach a wide audience, increasing visibility and tourist appeal.

Within the framework of Action A.14.3.1 of Lot 3, the organisation of the Community Tourist Destination was promoted, a model that focuses on collaboration between different local actors: institutions, businesses, associations and communities. This approach aims to create shared governance for the management and enhancement of the territory.

Thanks to this project, the Madonie have been equipped with innovative tools and effective strategies to position themselves as a unique tourist destination, enhancing the area’s beauty and authenticity.
